Chapter 3 September 28, 2024
As the pace of our world accelerates exponentially, it’s becoming harder for our minds to grasp reality. We’re bombarded with countless choices, opinions, and pathways—especially with the internet constantly amplifying the noise. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and anxious. So, how are we supposed to find our own inner voice in such a chaotic world?
sanity is a radical act
In a time when division is growing, wars are raging, corruption runs deep, and anxiety and depression are rampant—when the social fabric feels like it’s unraveling—staying sane becomes a radical act. But what does it mean to stay sane? It’s about balance. It’s about peace. It’s about living a life that keeps you centered, rather than pulled to extremes. It’s knowing in your heart what’s right and wrong, supporting one another, and loving the world even when it seems impossible.
these practices keeps me sane
MOVE Movement is essential. By engaging the body, energy circulates, helping to release anxiety and shift it into motion. As movement expert Ido Portal says: "Move or die."
Walking is one of the simplest, most ancient forms of movement. No matter how overwhelming life gets, you can always put one foot in front of the other.
Sweat it out. Whether it's martial arts, bodybuilding, running, or basketball, find a form of exercise you enjoy and stick to it. Make it fun—because movement is life.
Nature We are nature. It effortlessly equilibrates mind and body. In a world consumed by digital stress, nature offers the ultimate antidote. Nature has no agenda. It simply exists, reminding us where we come from, that everything takes its time, and that our human drama is rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
Nature is that essence of life that we all should strive for.
Creativity For me, there are three key ways of expression besides speaking:
Writing. The power of writing lies in its simplicity. It brings structure and clarity to your thoughts, helping to organize and release them. Writing allows you to slow down the chaos in your mind and turn it into something tangible.
Music. Music bypasses the mind and goes straight to the heart. It enhances, guides, and releases emotions. That’s why we choose specific kinds of music to match our mood. But creating music—whether through singing or playing an instrument—takes emotional release to another level. When we make music with others, it creates a deep resonance and joy that transcends words. That’s why music has been central to human culture for millennia.
Where are you going? A Vision.
Do you know what you want in life?
Do you know what you don’t want?
Both are equally important. By understanding what you don’t want, you get clarity on what you do want. And to discover what you truly want, you have to live life.
Travel. Take a course in freediving. Get a new job. Start a business. Fail at a business. Get an engineering degree, only to realize it’s not for you. Move in with a partner. Separate from that partner. Spend time in a Himalayan cave. Sit in an ayahuasca ceremony.
Life experiences, both good and bad, piece together the vision of your ideal life—a life that’s true to you. If you don’t write the script for your own life, society will hand you a pre-made one. It may be more comfortable, but it won’t be yours.
Simply put: life will throw you all kinds of experiences. Your job is to move toward what resonates with your heart, and steer clear of everything else—be it people, experiences, or ideas. The Vision will evolve as you grow older and evolve. The vision for your entire life won’t be handed down in one go. The whole point of this journey is to go through life and uncover that greatest expression of yourself.
clear vision = sharp focus
When you have a clear vision, you stop worrying about the noise around you. The news, your neighbor’s barking dog, the latest TikTok trend, or the new gadget? None of it matters. You're on a mission because you have a vision for your life. This vision is so important that you won’t let anything or anyone steal your vital energy.
Your vision filters your reality. You focus on what matters to your vision and let go of the rest. You start recognizing patterns. You move forward with confidence, clarity, and joy. This is focus. This is flow.
Suddenly, you have a reason to work out. You have a reason to get your life together. You have a reason to learn, evolve, and wake up each morning asking, "How can I live this life fully? how can I get just 1% better today than yesterday?”
loving the game of life
Because you chose to live life on your terms. You didn’t settle for the pre-determined script society handed you at birth. You knew there was more to life, and you followed that intuition. Through the ups and downs, you figured out what truly matters to you. You found your gift to the world.
You are focused. You are clear. You act.
And one day, you wake up and realize you’ve manifested your own destiny.
That’s how you stay sane.
